Deep/Roots
A Found Poem (Story by Craig Cunningham)
“The Storm
Begins on the Horizon
in the Gathering
small forces
Merge into a ROAR
"without caution"
It hits everything with the SAME force
Withstand.
Houses swept.
SIMPLE stature remains
Exposed and unmoved
"Naked"
"Seen"
"Fathomed"
Fear whispers...
another begins to gather
...the cycle,
such is the way of the world.
In between
BUILDs its STRENGTH
in unseen places.
Beneath the surface
where roots conquer darkness.
And. Fill. With. LIFE.
We too
Set our sights on the HORIZON
in the QUIET
Decide.
GROW tall or DEEP
find our strength
in Beauty.
Deep roots: courage, love, commitment, community
reminds us of greater goals
covenant
TETHERING ourselves to whom
we truly stand for.
SLOW.
Quiet.
Roots growing through
bold confrontation.
When dreams become reality
Radical is not made overnight
but in thousands of choices
until one day, we find
we are strong.
We look at the horizon and see the storm.
Why would I run for cover?
"Anchored"
a strength in these ROOTS.
Nourished
by love.
